Frequently Asked Questions

❓ How do I know which charger fits my car?
Most electric and plug-in hybrid cars imported to Israel in recent years use a Type 2 inlet (7 pins with a flat top edge), so they're compatible with our Type 2 chargers. Older cars and some personal imports from the US use a Type 1 inlet (round, 5 pins). Not sure? Send us your car's model and year and we'll be happy to help you find the right match.

❓ Do the chargers fit every car?
Our Type 2 chargers fit most cars in Israel, including Tesla, BYD, XPENG, MG, Geely, Kia, Hyundai and plug-in hybrids. For cars with a Type 1 inlet we have a dedicated charger. The car always charges at the maximum power its built-in onboard charger supports.

❓ What's the difference between the 3.5kW, 7kW and 11kW portable chargers?
The 3.5kW charger with a household plug is designed for occasional charging and trips, away from your regular parking spot. According to the Israeli Electricity Authority guidelines, when connected to a household socket it must be set to 10A at most (approx. 2.3kW, about 10–13 km of range per hour of charging). The 7kW charger requires a single-phase 32A industrial socket (blue CEE) and adds about 35–45 km per hour; the 11kW charger requires a three-phase socket (red CEE) and a car that supports three-phase charging, and adds about 55–70 km per hour. These two are suitable for people who already have a suitable industrial socket, for example at a business or workplace. For everyday charging at home, we recommend a home charging station (7.6kW, 11kW or 22kW) installed by a licensed electrician. You can compare the models on the charger comparison page.

❓ How long does it take to charge an EV with a portable charger?
It depends on the battery size and the power: the car charges at the lowest power among the charger, the socket and the car's onboard charger. A full charge of an empty battery can take more than a day with a portable charger plugged into a household socket (10A), and between 4 and 10 hours with a home charging station. On most days you only top up your daily driving – and with a home charging station, overnight charging is more than enough. For an exact calculation for your car: charging time calculator.

❓ Are the chargers safe to use?
Yes. Our chargers are water- and dust-resistant with an IP66 rating, are made from quality materials, and include a control box (in line with the international standard for charging equipment, IEC 61851) that monitors the current and protects against overload. Always connect to a working, grounded socket, and never use extension cords, splitters or adapters – neither at the socket nor between the charging cable and the car. A home charging station is installed by a licensed electrician and checked by a licensed electrical inspector before first use. More details on the Standards & Safety page.

❓ Is there a time limit for charging? Can I leave the charger plugged in all night?
There's no time limit. EV chargers (EVSE) are designed from the outset for continuous operation over many hours — that's exactly what home charging is for, and it can take between 4 and 10 hours to reach a full charge. The international standard IEC 61851 defines vehicle charging as a "continuous load" intended to run for 3 hours or more continuously, so it's safe to leave the charger connected all night. The only important thing is that your regular charging at home is done from a charging station on a dedicated circuit installed by a licensed electrician; charging from a regular household plug is intended for occasional use only, at a current of up to 10A.

❓ What is a V2L adapter?
A V2L (Vehicle to Load) adapter plugs into the car's charging inlet and turns the battery into a power source with an Israeli socket – for running electrical appliances when camping, during power outages, or for power tools. It's suitable for cars that support V2L, such as models from BYD, MG, Kia and Hyundai. Appliances are connected only directly to the socket on the adapter – never connect the adapter to a wall socket or to your home's electrical panel.
