Portable charger for Type 1 cars

Key features

Adjustable current: 8A / 10A / 13A / 16A at the press of the button on the control box, to match charging to the socket and the electrical installation. On a household socket – up to 10A, per the Israeli Electricity Authority guidelines. The current is selected before charging starts and cannot be changed while charging.

Current memory: the charger remembers the last charging current selected.

LED indicators: lights on the control box show the selected current and the charging status.

Important: actual charging speed depends on the socket, the wiring and the protections in the electrical panel, and on the maximum charging rate your car supports.

⚠️ Safety warning — never connect an extension cord, splitter or adapter to the charger

It is strictly prohibited to connect the charger through an extension cord, a splitter (multi-socket adapter), an adapter or any intermediate accessory of any kind. The connection must be made directly to a dedicated standard socket. If the cable does not reach the car — choose a suitable cable length; do not extend it.

This is a regulatory requirement in Israel. The Israeli Electricity Authority guidelines for EV charging, section 12(c): an extension cord may not be used to supply a charging device, and adapters and splitters may not be used at the socket. Section 9(d) also prohibits using an adapter between the charging cable connector and the car's charging inlet.

The danger: charging an EV draws a high current continuously for hours. Every additional connection adds a point of resistance that heats up, can melt the plug and socket and can develop into a fire. It also causes a voltage drop that slows charging and may damage the car's charging system.

Warranty void: using an extension cord, splitter or adapter of any kind voids the product warranty — both the ChargingEV warranty and the manufacturer's warranty. ChargingEV will not be liable for any damage to the vehicle, property or person resulting from such use.

🛡️ The protections only work with a direct connection

The temperature monitoring and the other protections in the charger — leakage current, over-current, over-voltage and under-voltage, earthing, surges and short circuit — monitor the charger's own plug and connector. An intermediate accessory is outside this monitoring range: it can heat up, melt and catch fire without any protection detecting it and cutting off. That is why a direct connection is not a recommendation but a condition for safe use.
